Health and Sanitation Volunteer
Program
ACDF Nepal aims to mobilize volunteers with health
backgrounds in rural places around Pokhara where people do
not have access to any health institute, as the government
is not able to provide adequate health services. On the
other hand, rural Nepali people are often reluctant to go to
the hospital and other modern health services because of
orthodox thinking, superstition, and other cultural
influnces. Some Nepali people may visit a witch doctor when
they are suffering from an illness, so they sometimes die
without getting the benefit of modern medication. ACDF Nepal
is playing an active role in linking these rural people with
those around the world and within the country who are really
eagar to serve the many needy people in Nepal's rural areas.
Environment Awareness Program
After completing training the first week, volunteers will be
placed with a Nepali family in one of the program villages.
The host family will usually live half an hour from the
school/ environmental placement. Volunters will teach
environmental awareness at the local school club on the door
to door of Nepali village each day. Sunday through Friday.
Volunteer for public library
We have two small libraries with 1000 books running in a
rented house. So we have to promote our library in order to
promote the educational development of student from lower
cast and student to whom study as back to school program .We
welcome to volunteers to help in this public library.
As book care giver library assistant, newspaper collector,
donor, helper,.....etc for library.
Volunteer in orphanage
Volunteering in the orphanage is a good opportunity to
experience the obstacles and rewards of serving helpless
people. The high mortality rate for mothers during
childbirth, as well as the short life expectancy in general,
leaves thousands of children without parents each year. As a
result, most of these needy children are deprived of
education and find work as child labourers in restaurants,
factories, hotels, slaves, and as trash collectors. These
disadvantaged children need attention, love, care, and the
opportunity to further their education. Orphanages provide
these kids with daily meals, a bed, and some hope.
Volunteers will be placed either in orphanages or in the
host family near to the orphanages, where they will spend
most of the time with the children, assisting them in their
day-to-day routines. The children are mostly between
the ages of four and fifteen and have a basic understanding
of English. The general role of the volunteer will be to act
as an older sibling: to care for, look after and encourage
the children. Volunteers will teach the children general
life skills, including health and sanitation, as well as
arts, crafts and music. They may also help the children with
their schoolwork. As a volunteer you may also organize
tours, games, drawing classes, singing, dancing, painting
and other activities that children enjoy.
Internship for international
students
ACDF Nepal program especially designed for international
students in the differing areas of environment, computer
education, orphanages, sustainable agriculture and
conservation, English teaching, and health care. ACDF Nepal
can offer internship in Nepal in any area, related to Nepal,
in collaboration with our local partners. Areas of Nepal
internship include (but are not limited to):
- Environment and Conservation
- Health
- Teaching
- Women studies
- Development studies
- Journalism
- Nepali language
- Report Writing
- Handicraft
- teaching
Under the Nepal internship program, the intern engages in
daily project activities. In most cases, interns develop a
report/paper in a particular area of interest. Generally,
the director or staff members of this project serves as a
supervisor for the intern. As an intern, you stay with host
families who live near the project in which you are
involved. Most of the time, the director of the project will
work to help you successfully complete your field report.
Please ask ACDF Nepal if you need any help locating
information and materials for your internship program. In
order to get the most out of your internship position in
Nepal, ACDF Nepal recommends at least two weeks of language
and culture programs. These programs will provide you with a
necessary, comprehensive start in exploring the every day
issues of Nepal. Many times, language difficulties hinder
the effectiveness of interning. Furthermore, it is possible
to organize extra tutorials with experts of particular areas
with additional fees. ACDF Nepal suggests that you
correspond with us if you have special needs for your
internship.
Teaching Environmental Awareness
to Villagers
Your participation can change the lives for the better and
also it gives us the benefit of how other cultures work and
live. Not only can we teach them but we can also take back
home an invaluable experience and recommend others to come
out and help. In this program it is vital to teach people
the effects of environmental damage and to show them how
they can help to reduce the impact of these damages in their
country. You will be teaching the people in under developed
areas about recycling, getting rid of waste disposal, saving
water, making simple toilet facilities using local
materials, compulsory fertilizing, etc to make a difference
to the environment of Nepal
Home stay and cultural exchange
Home stays and cultural exchange programs can be arranged in
typical nepali villages with different ethnic group and most
touristy and remote areas of Nepal. Participants will be
placed with a Nepali family in a small rural village. This
provides the volunteers with an excellent opportunity to
learn about all aspects of Nepali culture, lifestyle,
language, food and people.
Volunteers should remember that this is a cultural exchange
and that an effort to offer some knowledge of their own home
culture and customs to the family with whom they stay is
expected.
Participants in the program will not go through training in
Nepal with the other volunteers. During their home-stay,
volunteers will attend 2 hours of language lessons in the
morning and in the afternoon. They will also have the
opportunity to visit different areas of interest. They can
participate in different cultural program around village.

have teaching skills and are eager to work with small
children, people who loves children, understand psychology
of children etc. are welcome to apply.

the various volunteering opportunities we are providing. We
